Reveles: Thank you supervisors for growing American jobs in Pinal County

Posted

The following was read at the Sept. 4 meeting of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors:

Mr. chairman and members of the board;

Two days ago, we celebrated Labor Day, a holiday that Congress established in 1894 as a tribute to America’s workers. Celebrated individual workers and trade and labor organizations who have improved everyone’s standard of living and whose labor contributes to our economic strength as the most powerful economy in the world.

This Labor Day is an appropriate time to note Pinal County’s energized economy that is experiencing the highest job growth of any county in Arizona, with a 16% increase in new jobs between 2019 and 2023.

Thank you, workers for enriching our local economy and our daily lives.

And at the national job level, thank you, Michelle Obama, for responding with humor to the Republican presidential candidate’s divisive accusation that migrants are taking Black jobs and Hispanic jobs from Americans.

As Michelle humorously put it, “who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those “Black jobs”!

Genuine thanks to you members of the board, for growing American jobs in Pinal County by seeking and using the Biden-Harris Administration’s American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act. All of which were voted for by Arizona’s Democratic members of Congress but cynically voted against by Arizona’s Republican legislators.

Bottom line is that workers, residents, small businesses of Coolidge, Casa Grande, Eloy and surrounding communities are enjoying these economic gains from vehicle manufacturing and energy producing solar panel projects. While drivers throughout Pinal County are benefiting from highways being upgraded by projects. All of these significant gains in quality of life made possible by Democratic legislators in Congress and the Biden-Harris administration in the White House.

Again, thanks to our fellow laboring workers for keeping alive the values and dignity of Labor Day which, when joined with enlightened political leadership, will continue to bring the American Dream to all corners of Arizona. Remember in November.
