Pilot program will extend Florence Library hours

Posted

Starting Monday, April 1, the Viney Jones Library & Community Center will be open one extra day and for longer hours.

The library will be launching a three-month pilot program to open Mondays and extend its closing time until 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.

“This initiative reflects the town’s commitment to evaluating new solutions to meet our community’s needs,” a press release stated. “We recognize the importance of listening to our residents, gathering community feedback, and using that information to continually improve our recreational programs and services.”

During the extended hours, community members will be encouraged to use the library’s Makerspace, where they can craft custom buttons and jewelry. They can also reserve high-tech equipment such as the 3D Printer, Glow Forge laser printer, and Cricut cutting machine after becoming Makerspace certified.

During this trial period, the town will be sharing a survey to collect community members’ thoughts on the pilot program, as well as changes being considered for the Florence Fitness Center, the release stated.

During the pilot program from April 1 to June 30, the library will observe the following hours:
