Chandler student on C-SPAN’s list in filming Valley honorees

C-SPAN was scheduled to film a student this week at Paragon Science Academy in Chandler.

Czaryna Lingat, a 10th-grader at the academy, was announced in March as an honorable mention winner in a video contest.

She produced “The Rise of A.I.: Intersection of Technology and Humanity.” That was one of the winners in StudentCam, C-SPAN’s annual student video documentary competition.

Lingat received $250 as a prize for the video. A trio of seniors at Metro Tech High School in Phoenix split the same prize and were scheduled to be filmed by C-SPAN this week as well.

The 20th annual competition asked students to address the theme “Looking Forward while Considering the Past.”
Middle and high school students could choose one of two prompts and produce a short documentary on either the theme “In the next 20 years, what is the most important change that you would like to see in America?” or “Over the past 20 years, what has been the most important change in America?”

More than 300 students and 200 educators from across the country are winning a total of $150,000 from C-SPAN this year. C-SPAN gifted an additional $50,000 in teacher prizes this year as part of the 20th anniversary.
