Chandler City Council member Jane Poston and Mayor Kevin Hartke flanked Chandler Fire Battalion Chief Blas Minor and aquatics professional Jessica Chamberlain after the mayor read a proclamation at the Chandler City Council's Aug. 12 regular meeting.
Chamberlain said drowning deaths in Maricopa County have increased in 2024, despite widespread water safety education efforts by many.
