Annual taco festival making return to Chandler

Van Halen tribute band to headline live music

The 13th Annual Rockin’ Taco Street Festival will make its return to the East Valley.

The event features more than 20 local restaurants, a mechanical riding Rockin’ Taco, lucha libre wrestlers, family-friendly entertainment offerings, and much more. Bottoms Up, a Van Halen tribute band, will headline the live music.

The event that goes from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Dr. AJ Chandler Park, 178 E. Commonwealth Ave., in Chandler.

In addition to the Van Halen tribute band, this year’s festival features live performances from Big Iron AZ, Sweet Mess, and High 90's.

Big Iron AZ will perform from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Sweet Mess will take the stage at  3 p.m. and play until 4:30 p.m. 
 
High 90’s will play from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Bottoms Up  will headline from 7:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. 
Lucha Libre starts a 1 p.m. and is on the hour ever hour until the last of the five matches starts at 5 p.m. 

Beyond the tacos and tunes, the festival is packed with activities as well.

Residents can watch Lucha Libre Wrestling or test their limits in the taco eating competition. Adventurous attendees can hop on the Mechanical Taco Ride or master their mixology skills in the margarita and michelada master tent.

Families are welcome too, with the Little Amigos play area accompanied by family-friendly yard games like cornhole, ladders and Kong Pong.

Tickets for the Rockin’ Taco Street Festival are $15 for a single ticket, $25 for two tickets, and $44 for a group of four. Attendees are encouraged to purchase early, as prices will increase closer to the event. Kids 12 and under are free.
