Local nonprofit Benevilla is seeking volunteers to help the local community’s seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Benevilla needs immediate assistance with the following volunteer opportunities:
Grocery shopping: Assist older adults who cannot go to the grocery stores in getting essential everyday items.
Assisted transportation to medical appointments: Provide safe, friendly, transportation for older adults to and from essential appointments.
Phone pals: Contact older adults in our community that might be isolated and provide opportunities for companionship.
Emergency errands: Assist older adults with identified essential errands.
These services can help ease the burden and worries of family members caring for loved ones and ensure older adults with no family support are not left isolated, alone and in need of every day essentials.
“We are strongest when we work together,” Benevilla president and CEO Joanne Thomson stated in a news release. “Now is the time to support those in our community who are vulnerable and need us the most.”
Benevilla has a Surprise main office at 16752 N. Greasewood St., and a Sun City West office at 13576 Camino Del Sol, Suite 22.
Volunteer applications can be completed at www.Benevilla.org or by calling 623-584-4999.
Benevilla states that with the most recent recommendations from county and state health officials regarding COVID-19, its only goal is to protect the health and wellbeing of the community that they serve. It is taking precautions and pre-screening all current and new home services clients and volunteers.
