The Arizona State Championship Swim Meet was April 20 and 21 at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center in Oro Valley. There were 15 Sun City Starrs in the meet, competing against a field of 22 teams of 183 swimmers. The Starrs took first place in points for the medium size team category.
There were notable individual achievements as well.
Malinda Case took first in total points earned in the 80-84 age category while Dale Wiseley took total points earned in the 70 to 74 age category. The coach of the Starrs, Leslie Nock, was awarded the Edie and Dan Gruender Award for dedicated service to Arizona Masters Swim Meet at an awards dinner. Ann Case was also recognized at the dinner for her stellar achievements at the World Games in Qatar.
Individual results are as follows:
Malinda Case 80-84W age group: 200 yard breaststroke 1st place; 200 yard backstroke 1st place; 50 yard breast 1st place; 100 yard individual medley 2nd place; 200 yard individual medley 1st place; 50 yard back 3rd place; 100 yard breaststroke 1st place; 100 yard back 2nd place.
Ann Case 80-84W age group: 50 yard butterfly 1st place; 50 yard freestyle 2nd place; 100 yard free 1st place; 50 yard back 2nd place; 100 yard fly 1st place.
Bill Travis 75-79 age group; 200 yard breast 2nd place; 50 yard free 4th place; 100 yard free 2nd place; 1,000 yard free 1st place; 200 yard free 3rd place; 100 yard breast 3rd place; 500 yard free 2nd place.
Amy Vidos 55-59W age group: 50 yard fly 1st place; 100 yard individual medley 2nd place; 50 yard back 1st place; 100 yard back 1st place.
Larry Vose 65-69M age group: 200 yard breast 4th place; 50 yard breast 3rd place; 100 yard breast 3rd place.
Dale Wiseley 70-74M age group: 200 yard breast 1st place; 200 yard back 1st place; 50 yard breast 1st place; 100 yard individual medley 1st place; 200 yard Individual medley 1st place; 50 yard back 1st place; 100 yard breast 1st place; 100 yard back 1st place.
Team Relays: 200 yard Women’s Medley 55+ comprised of Amy Vidos, Leslie Nock, Carrie Curfman and Lonna Ramsey, 1st place.
Men’s Medley 65+ 200 yards with Earl Peters, Larry Vose, Bernie Sauve and Dale Wisley, 1st place.
Women’s 400 yard free with Lonna Ramsey, Carrie Curfman, Cynthia Hayes and Leslie Nock, 2nd place.
Men’s Mixed Medley 200 yards with Malinda Case, Cynthia Hayes, Dale Wiseley and Lee Hawkinson, 3rd place.
Men’s free 400 yards featuring Lee Hawkinson, Earl Peters, Bernie Sauve and Dale Wiseley, 1st place.
Women’s Free 200 yards 65+ with Malinda Case, Ann Case, Carrie Curfman and Lonna Ramsey, 2nd place.
Men’s relay 200 yards 55+ including Richard Hanan, William Travis, William Shaw and Lee Hawkinson, 2nd place.
Men’s relay 200 yards 65+ Larry Vose, Dale Wiseley, Bernie Sauve and Earl Peters, 1st place.
