Drivers heading toward Glendale’s Westgate Entertainment District this St. Patrick’s Day weekend should be aware of road closures and a lot of foot traffic.

The Kiss Me I’m Irish ninth annual race event launches three consecutive races at 7 a.m. Saturday — a half marathon an 8K race and a 4K race. Due to the races, Maryland Avenue will be closed from 91st Avenue to 95th Avenue and the intersection at 83rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road will be closed 5 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday.

There will also be a 1K Kilt Run at 6 p.m. Friday, where runners will circle Westgate. No roads will be closed for that race. The races will raise money for Relay for Life Glendale/Peoria and the American Cancer Society.
