Sun City’s Florine Duffield selected as April artist of the month

Florine Duffield has been named April artist of the month for the Artists By the Lake club at Lakeview Recreation Center, 10626 Thunderbird Blvd.

Ms. Duffield is an international award-winning artist, with her work appearing in galleries, museums and private collections throughout the US, the UK, AOP Gallery, London, and the Museum at Sky Harbor, Phoenix.

Ms. Duffield’s professional career started in New York City during the 1960s, working in films, television, and print as a model/actress/singer. She eventually switched careers to become a photographer. Ms. Duffield began visiting Sun City in the 1970s when her father lived there. She moved to Arizona in 1999.

Ms. Duffield calls herself a “portrait artist” She makes headshots / photo portraits and retouches them in Photoshop. She also takes portrait commissions, oil on canvas, working from photographs. She currently studies oil painting with various teachers in Sun City.

Ms. Duffield’s works are displayed in the permanent collection of Fairways Recreation Center. She has about 60 pieces of art and photography hanging – all images of Arizona. She was also event photographer in 2010-2011 for the “50th Anniversary of Sun City, AZ.”

Her work can be seen on display outside the art room in the case as well as in the art room gallery from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at Lakeview Recreation Center.

Artist By The Lake club is open to any RCSC card holder. Dues are $10 a year with a monthly snack share and meeting on the first Tuesday of the Month. The April 2 meeting starts at noon, in second floor social Hall 1.
