January means a new year for the Sun City PRIDES in more ways than one.

Election of board members was conducted Jan. 5 during the PRIDES annual membership meeting for two open positions whose two-year terms expired. The 2019 new board members are Stan Pastorek and Angela Vircks. Board members are elected by the PRIDES’ membership present at the annual meeting.

At the board of directors meeting after the general meeting, the board’s officers were elected. Molly Soblewski will serve as president, Pat Richardson as vice president and Rosie Swain as secretary.

Mrs. Soblewski has been with the PRIDES for seven years and this is her fourth year on the board of directors.

“I was humbled to be re-elected president of such a fine organization such as the PRIDES for a second term,” she said. “I will be supporting Mike Will to expand our tree planting campaign.”

This will include a response to community questions about the campaign, according to Mrs. Soblewski

Deborah Douglas was named the new coordinator for Phase II. She replaces Jeannie Dircks, who served in that position for numerous years. Val Bedoe is the new Phase III coordinator. In addition to regular projects the PRIDES are working on, their next major event is the annual awards luncheon that will be conducted Tuesday, March 19 at the Mountain View Recreation Center, 9749 N. 107th Ave.
