Driver says: Please put the phone down
While driving in mild traffic on a double lane, main road, I pulled up next to a woman who was texting on the phone while driving. In between traffic stops and pauses, I noticed her continuing to text while holding the phone up as high as the dashboard with her right hand and holding on to the steering wheel with her left hand. Her focus was mostly on the cell phone while she only glanced at the road while she was driving. I was honestly afraid for her and concerned that she would unknowingly drift into my lane. At the next stop in traffic, I pulled up to her and motioned to roll down her window. After she turned down her music I said: “You’re a beautiful young lady with a wonderful life ahead of you. Please put down the phone.” She thanked me and we drove off. Was I rude for doing that? — John Yaeger
