Palo Verde Artists March gathering features demo

Palo Verde Artists will gather noon Monday, March 4 in the East Auditorium of Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103 Ave. The guest artist will be Dyanne Locati, who will conduct a presentation on “Fluid Acrylic and Colored Pencil,” using watercolor paper as the substrate. This demo will show how to apply Fluid Acrylic on watercolor paper, and then draw the subject with colored pencils.

Ms. Locati is an award-winning artist, instructor, past president of the Watercolor Society of Oregon; past president/ executive vice president and convention director of the Colored Pencil Society of America; signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Colored Pencil Society of America; Northwest Watercolor Society; Arizona Watercolor Association; Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies.

Ms. Locati has been honored with many awards and various accolades in her art career. She has traveled around the United States to organize conventions, teach workshops and judge art shows. Her artwork is featured in and on the cover of 15 books both in the U.S. and Europe, and she has written articles for magazines as well as step-by-step instructions for books.

There will be a board meeting at 11 a.m. in the second floor Palo Verde Club Room prior to the gathering/demo. Please bring a snack to share at the gathering. RCSC members and their escorted guests are welcome to attend.

Membership in Palo Verde Artists is $10 per year, and is open to RCSC cardholders only. Gain some newfound skills in different mediums by signing up for Oil Painting beginning Tuesday, March 5, or Beginning/Intermediate Drawing starting Thursday, March 7, both with instructor Bruce Cody; graphite and colored pencils with instructor Ruth Little beginning Wednesday, March 6; or painting with your choice of media beginning Friday, March 8 with instructor Malcolm Blazer.
