Goodyear police ready to join Law Enforcement Torch Run

The Goodyear Police Department will participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Arizona Special Olympics on Thursday, May 2.

Goodyear Police will pick up the torch from Buckeye Police at MC85 and Cotton Lane, where Goodyear’s portion of the run will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m.

“Members of the Goodyear Police Department will dust off their running shoes for a great cause,” Police Chief Jerry Geier stated. “The Goodyear Police Department is dedicated to giving back to the community; the Special Olympics of Arizona is a cause we are honored to support each year.”

The mission of the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run is to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Arizona. The torch is carried to represent the Flame of Hope.

Goodyear Police members will run nearly seven miles and finish at the southeast corner of Litchfield Road and Van Buren at approximately noon. At that point, Goodyear PD will be hand the torch off to Avondale PD and DOC.
