Kovach: Commentary was just what needed said in Sun City about PCA

Incredibly astute and informative remarks by Sen. Rick Gray (“PCA has unintended consequences,” Sun City Independent, April 17, 2019).

His insights on the potential unintended consequences of driving Sun City to the Planned Communities Act and away from its longstanding Title 10 status, particularly the serious threat of destroying the Preservation Improvement Fee funding for facilities improvements, were a welcome commentary versus all the vitriol discussing “gorilla dust” transparency by some over the last few months.

The real war is over the PIF because some believe that all these great facilities and their renovations are “free” and that there will be little consequence if the PIF approach is undermined. I have lived in another Sun City community (and researched several more) and Rick is spot on about skyrocketing rec center dues we will be forced to pay if this funding approach for facilities is lost. If we do not keep our facilities modern and inviting for the potential next generation of Sun City residents, our community and our home values will be greatly impaired.

I stand with Rick Gray, who has time and again backed up his words of representation with passionate community involvement. Thank you, Sen. Gray.
