Auditions for 1950s musical coming up at Theater Works

Theater Works, 10580 N. 83rd Dr., is hosting auditions for its upcoming production of “All Shook Up!”

“It’s 1955,” the theater’s website describes the production, “and into a square little town in a square little state, rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets in this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy that’ll have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as ‘Heartbreak Hotel,’ ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘Don’t Be Cruel.’”

David Chorley is the show’s director, Ken Goodenberger is musical director, and Nathalie Velasquez is choreographer.

The production will run Sept. 7-23.

Auditions take place at Theater Works inside the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. Actors ages 19 and older are eligible for a $100 stipend.

Actors should prepare 32 bars of an upbeat, up-tempo song that is in the style of the show that best highlights their voice and vocal range.

Please bring accompaniment track in an electronic format mp3 or mp4. No a capella auditions.

Bring a picture and resume, and actors should bring in the completed audition form available online through theaterworks.org.
