special TORCH committee, said there is still room for three or four new registrants for the fall class.

TORCH–Tapping Our Resources, Citizens and Heritage–is a citizens academy conducted twice each year for Sun City West residents.

The very popular educational program was developed in 2008-09. Its purpose is to educate, inspire and excite residents about life in Sun City West.

Though sponsored by the Recreation Centers of Sun City West, the classes also offer insight to other community organizations such as PRIDES, Sun City West Foundation, Helping Hands, Community Fund and Posses.

The academy classes run for seven consecutive Thursday afternoons, and run about four hours each. The first class will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, and attendees will also gather for a meet and greet welcoming event on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Residents wanting to register or get more information can contact the Governing Board Executive Assistant at 623-544-6115.
