Just in time for the last few weeks of summer, the City of Surprise is hosing a Fall Cleanup Event from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
Surprise residents are permitted to drop off up to 2,000 pounds of non-hazardous residential waste for free at the Northwest Regional Landfill, 19401 W. Deer Valley Road.
There is a limit of one load per household and hazardous waste items will not be accepted

City Council returns to its Tues. schedule
The Surprise City Council is getting back to its regular Tuesday meeting schedule next week with a work session and regular meeting set for 4 and 6 p.m., respectively, Sept. 17 at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza. An agenda will be available at agendas.surpriseaz.gov.
Winters to host meetup at AZ Traditions
Vice Mayor Roland Winters is hosting one of his regular monthly meetings for District 1 residents at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at The Retreat Center at Arizona Traditions, 18250 W. Weathersby Drive. Mr. Winters hosts the meetings for residents in his district on the second Friday of every month.
Hayden set for another district meet-up
District 2 Councilwoman Nancy Hayden is hosting one of her bi-monthly district meetings at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Arizona Traditions, 17221 N. Citrus Road. Ms. Hayden hosts the meetings for residents in her district on the second Wednesdays and fourth Tuesdays of every month. District 2 covers Sun City Grand, Bell West Ranch and portions of Arizona Traditions.
Asante taking electronics in recycling event
Asante Preparatory Academy, 23251 N. 166th Drive, is hosting an electronics recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14. Get rid of unwanted electronics safely and easily by dropping them off at the school. Afterward, the PTA Play-date at Asante Park runs from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
