Phoenix police: Teenage boy shot in leg remains hospitalized

PHOENIX (AP) — Police in Phoenix say a juvenile boy who was shot in one of his legs is still hospitalized and it’s been determined that he’s 14 years old.

Officers responded to 99th Avenue just south of Lower Buckeye Road about 4:30 p.m. Monday about an injured person near a west Phoenix park.

They found the boy in the roadway with a significant leg injury.

Police didn’t identify the juvenile, but say it’s believed the leg injury may have been an accidental or even self-inflicted.

Detectives continue to search for evidence to determine if there is related criminal conduct.

Police say the teen remains uncooperative with investigators.
