The Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West is moving ahead in the creation of a separate organization to work concurrently in patrolling the community.

The new organization is called the Sun City West Posse.

Jim Wzorek, posse assistant executive officer for operations, said new uniforms and badges were ordered, and some patrol cars have new markings.

Uniforms for the new group will be gray shirts and black pants, rather than the tan shirts and dark brown pants of the Sheriff’s Posse.

Myron Finegold, posse commander, said he anticipates the new organization will be on the street in late March or early April.

Mr. Finegold added some of the first members of the new organization will be current posse members. Residents who want to join the new organization will have the same extensive training as the current posse members, but will not be subject to other training mandated by a federal court to address MCSO performances under Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

This is an ongoing story. Check regularly for updates, and further information will be in next week’s edition of the Sun City West Independent.
