Recreation Centers of Sun City West leadership is reaching out to houses of worship in the community to work closer together.

Katy O’Grady, RCSCW general services officer, said the idea had been brought up in the past.

The question also has come up through TORCH and in various conversations among different community leaders, Ms. O’Grady said.

According to a listing from the Sun City West Visitors Center, there are 20 houses of worship inside Sun City West. However, there is apparently no central organization of religious groups in the community.

Dr. Kirby Kennedy, senior pastor at the First Baptist Church of Sun City West thinks this is very good idea.

“I am 100 percent for this,” he said. “We have two social and age groups now, and the differences will be expanded further when the younger people retire and come here.”

There will be more on this topic in the May 22 issue of the Sun City West Independent.
