As hundreds of residents in the Sun Cities are getting ready to head to cooler climates for the summer, the posse organizations are gearing up for a heavy Vacation Watch schedule.

Residents in Sun City and Sun City West must register with their posses before the service can begin. The registration gives written permission for posse members to be on the property and check the windows, doors and other areas.

Sun City West will soon have two separate posse organizations–The Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West and the Sun City West Posse. Though their uniforms and markings on their cars will be different, their duties will basically be the same, according to Myron Finegold, Posse commander.

The Sun City West organization has two Smart vehicles, one of them electric, for posse members to travel around the community and check the registered vacant houses.

Posse members in regular patrol cars also check on empty residences along with other patrol duties.

There will be more information on this in next week’s Sun City West Independent.
