Pickle drop donates to charity
Myron Finegold, left, Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West commander, and Richard Catlin, Sun City West Foundation president, received checks from the Sun City West Pickleball Club after their delayed “Day for Charity” event.
The Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West and the Helping Hans program of the Sun City West Foundation each received $11,780 from the Pickle Ball club “Day for Charity” event, held Feb. 13.
Ken Holtz, Sun City West Pickle Ball Club vice president and “Day for Charity” event leader, said the normal program had to be changed when the fire truck was not available to drop the balls into a closed area. This year the balls were dumped into an area that contained fishbowls.
Prizes were awarded from $1,000 to $100 for some lucky winners.
This is an fifth annual event of the Pickleball Club in partnership with the Sun City West Alliance of Business and Community and the Sundome Plaza Merchants.
