Phoenix police have arrested a suspect they previously identified in the shooting death of an 18-year-old man back in April.
Police had been looking for Carlos Pacheco, 27, after Joe Acosta was pronounced dead at a hospital April 23 due to a gunshot injury.
Police said Mr. Pacheco had fled the scene of a shooting near Van Buren Street and 67th Avenue.
Mr. Acosta was brought to a hospital near 91st Avenue and Thomas Road by two other people, records state.
Prior to that, Mr. Pacheco, Mr. Acosta and the other men met in a trailer park area to sell pills, records show. During an argument over the price, Mr. Pacheco allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband. While doing so, the gun fired, striking Mr. Acosta.
A person of interest told police the shooting may have been an accident. Mr. Pacheco was seen helping an injured Mr. Acosta into a vehicle before fleeing the scene.
However, anonymous tips led police to identify Mr. Pacheco as the shooter. On May 9, police put out a flyer announcing his connection to the shooting.
Then on Thursday, police found him at an apartment near 67th Avenue and Osborn Road.
Mr. Pacheco admitted to police that he was present when the shooting occurred, but said he did not kill his friend, Mr. Acosta.
Mr. Pacheco is in jail in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
