Peoria police said a man has died after he was pinned between two trucks at a construction site Monday morning.
The incident occurred before 7 a.m. Nov. 13 in the area of 75th and Olive avenues, south of Grand Avenue.
According to the Peoria Fire-Medical Department, an adult male in his 50s was pinned between two dump trucks. Medical personnel transported him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said one dump truck was parked and unoccupied. The second dump truck was parked, backed up to the first truck, with the driver conducting a pre-trip check in between the two.
Police believe the parking brake was not engaged on the second truck and the truck rolled backwards, pinning the driver between the two trucks.
Another driver in the parking lot saw this happen and immediately moved the truck to free the male, and then immediately provided life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived, according to police.
“He was unresponsive and CPR was being performed,” Public Information Officer Tim Eiden said.
The man that was pinned was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
However, he has since passed away due to his injuries, police said at about 2 p.m.
Police identified him as 50-year-old Arturo Perez of Tolleson.
The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is still investigating this incident.
Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this accident. There does not appear to be anything suspicious.
