Glendale police investigate possible murder suicide after two found shot at home

Glendale police are investigating the deaths of two people as after they were found with gunshot wounds Friday.

At about 3:20 p.m. Jan. 12, Glendale Police Department received a 911 call from a distraught woman about a shooting at a home in the area of 4900 West Saguaro Drive, near 51st and Peoria avenues.

Upon arrival, officers located a man and a woman with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The Glendale Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted to treat the adults there before transporting them to a Valley hospital.

The caller had told police that the man had just shot his mother-in-law and himself inside the home

Glendale Police Detectives assumed the investigation, identifying the two involved as 59-year-old Ricky L. Bailey and 85-year-old Pearl Mary Merenyi. Both died at the hospital, police said.

Police will not be releasing the name of the caller.

Police said Mr. Bailey and Ms. Merenyi resided together at the home where the shooting occurred.

Detectives believe this incident was a murder-suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
