Board examines non-resident activities

The Recreation Centers of Sun City West Governing Board members are investigating unauthorized use of their facilities by people who don’t live in the community.

A few board members expressed concern at their workshop meeting on Feb. 8 that some property owners may let short term renters use the resident’s recreation card—which is against the rules. Guest and tenant activity cards are available for renters.

Jim Sloan, RCSCW governing board president, said it is very difficult to enforce the rules and is concerned about those who rent Sun City West homes through such services as AirBnB, VRBO and HomeAway.

Another concern expressed during the recent governing board workshop meeting involved non-residents participating in chartered clubs’ activities.

Statement by some club officers listed concern about the inability to log into the main computer at certain times of the day to confirm a person has fully paid all RCSCW and club membership dues.

Mr. Sloan said there would some investigation and it would be discussed at the March Workshop meeting, 9 a.m., Friday, March 8, in the lecture hall of the R.H. Johnson Recreation Center,19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd.

There will be more information on this issue in the Feb. 20 edition of the Sun City West Independent.
