Police said two teenagers are recovering after they were struck by lightning at an El Mirage park during a thunderstorm Wednesday night.

El Mirage police said the two boys, either 13 or 14, were taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

They reported one boy in stable condition and the other in critical but stable condition.

On Wednesday night, the police posted on Facebook that one of the boy’s went into cardiac arrest and was not expected to survive.

However, police on Thursday morning said the boy in critical but stable condition was in the intensive care unit and showing signs of improvement.

The park is located at 121st Avenue and Moreno Boulevard, northeast of Cactus and El Mirage roads.
