Phoenix police recommends charges against ex-boyfriend of Kiera Bergman

The Phoenix Police Department has developed probable cause to recommend charges against the ex-boyfriend of Kiera Bergman, who went missing and was later found dead.

Jon Christopher Clark, 23, is already in custody on unrelated identity theft and forgery charges back in August.

Police on Tuesday said they are recommending first-degree murder, improper removal of a body and evidence tampering charges against Mr. Clark.

Ms. Bergman and Mr. Clark had moved to the Phoenix area from California in March. Since then, they broke up.

Ms. Bergman then went missing Aug. 4 after she left home for work. She was found dead in Buckeye on Sept. 3.

Mr. Clark had been arrested twice in August for the identity theft and forgery charges, but had yet to be named a suspect in Ms. Bergman’s death.

Police said none of the personal identification items they found in Mr. Clark’s possession when he was arrested were of Ms. Bergman.

Her family had asked for Mr. Clark not to contact them since their daughter’s disappearance.
