The Arizona Department of Public Safety continues to investigate after a driver died from injuries sustained in a collision along a Valley freeway.

DPS said a 17-year-old girl from Peoria was driving a Jeep passenger vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Friday on westbound Loop 101 near 51st Avenue when her vehicle collided with a Lexus passenger vehicle.

The collision caused the Jeep to rollover, DPS said. First responders extricated the girl from her vehicle.

The 18-year-old driver of the Lexus was not injured.

The Jeep driver was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted about the roads restrictions but later said all lanes were open by 4:30 a.m. Friday.
