Goodyear armed robbery suspects arrested in Litchfield Park

Goodyear police took two people into custody in connection with the robbery of a person outside a local pharmacy.

Police report on Monday morning, a male victim returning to his vehicle at the Walgreen’s near Litchfield and Indian School roads when a person came up to him and demanded his phone.

That suspect reportedly fired a round into the asphalt. The victim dropped his phone, which the suspect picked up and fled in a vehicle.

Police tracked the victim’s phone to a residential area in Litchfield Park. In the afternoon, officers found three males exiting a home and entering the suspect vehicle.

They pulled the vehicle over and detained the occupants. Buckeye residents Alexander Asay and Austin Swartley were identified as two of the occupants and suspects in the robbery.

Police also located the victim’s phone in the vehicle. Mr. Asay was found with a handgun.

Mr. Asay, 21, and Mr. Swartley, 20, face numerous felony charges including armed robbery and trafficking stolen property.

It was not immediately known if the third person was arrested or charged.
