The Glendale Police Department Traffic Unit and the Foothills Patrol Division are working to increase awareness, education and enforcement along the Bell Road corridor this week.

Since Monday, officers have been conducting “high visibility activities” in attempts to bring traffic safety and awareness to drivers.

The week-long focus on Bell Road is only one piece of an ongoing traffic safety plan that focuses on areas of Glendale that statistically need the attention to address identified concerns.

Over the past two years, Glendale has identified an increase in traffic collisions and traffic related fatalities.

With the adoption of the “Hands Free” distracted driving ordinance earlier this year, Glendale officers will be doing their part to ensure that drivers have their attention on the roadways and are obeying the traffic laws put in place to protect our residents and visitors.
