An investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl from Litchfield Park has led to the arrest of a 68-year-old man.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reports Benjamin Abril Jr., 68, was arrested Tuesday morning at his residence in Glendale.
MCSO learned of the allegations in October 2017, when a Litchfield Park woman said her 13-year-old daughter was receiving sexually explicit text messages from Mr. Abril.
The girl told authorities that on at least 15 occasions Mr. Abril allegedly sexually assaulted her in a vehicle, at his apartment, and at least one other location. Mr. Abril is accused of taking photographs of several of the acts.
Mr. Abril reportedly told the girl one time that he like her performing oral sex because she was a little teenager, according to a probable cause statement.
It was not immediately unknown if Mr. Abril was finally arrested on these charges this week, or if he had been in custody before but had failed to appear in court.
However, search warrants for Mr. Abril appear to have been filed against him as early as November 2017.
He was booked into jail in lieu of a $150,000 bond. Mr. Abril faces more than 20 combined counts of sexual exploitation with a minor, sexual conduct with a minor and distributing obscene materials.
