Five people were arrested in connection with a fatal shooting, including two who were shot during the incident.
The Phoenix Police Department said its officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road around 11:50 p.m. Saturday.
In addition, other officers responded to a local hospital where two people, who had been shot, were in the emergency room. Officers determined the two incidents were related. Detectives responded to both locations to investigate.
Authorities learned Marquis Momon, 21, of Glendale and Mozafar Babiker, 20, of Phoenix went to the apartment complex to rob 18-year-old Telvin Goll. The two men had three teenage accomplices with them, ages 15 to 17. A 15-year-old boy accompanied the two men into Mr. Goll’s apartment.
Police said those three forced open the apartment door and a gunfire exchanged between the suspects and the resident.
Mr. Goll was shot and died at the scene.
Police also said Mr. Momon and the teenager were shot. The three suspects fled the apartment in a getaway vehicle, occupied by two other teenagers. They then drove to the hospital.
Mr. Momon was treated and released, but the 15-year-old suspect was reported in critical condition at this time.
Mr. Momon and Mr. Babiker were booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail on charges of first-degree murder, burglary and armed robbery.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending on the other three suspects.
Police believe drugs were a factor in this incident.
Records state the weapon used in the incident was thrown out of the vehicle and had not yet been recovered.
