Peoria police continue investigating after a 19-year-old man died in a fiery collision.

According to the Peoria Fire-Medical Department, two vehicles were involved in a collision before 6 p.m. Friday near Lake Pleasant and Westwing parkways. One of the vehicles was fully-engulfed in flames upon arrival.

Peoria police said Brandon Windahl, 19, of Glendale, died at the scene. His family has set up a Facebook fundraiser and a GoFundMe account for funeral expenses and travel arrangements. Mr. Windahl was reportedly set to graduate in a few weeks.

On Friday, Peoria Fire said one person was airlifted to the hospital and at least three others were being treated at the scene.

Peoria police on Monday said a white F-250 pickup truck was traveling northbound on Lake Pleasant Parkway while a black sedan was traveling southbound. The sedan was intending to turn left onto Westwing when the collision occurred.

After the vehicles collided, the truck collided with a traffic light pole. The truck then erupted in flames. Mr. Windahl died as a result of the collision. The two other occupants in the truck were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old female, and a passenger sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene.

The intersection was closed for several hours during the investigation but was open for regular traffic around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit continues to investigate. No arrests or citations have been made.
