Police continue investigating after a 2-year-old boy died days after being pulled out of an unfenced pool.
Around 6 p.m. Sept. 3, Peoria police and paramedics responded to a home in the 8700 block of West Questa Drive for a possible child drowning (Daily News-Sun, Sept. 5, page 4).
An adult had pulled the boy from the pool and began life-saving measures before the Peoria Fire-Medical Department arrived.
Crews transported the boy to a local hospital, doing all they could to save him, police said.
However, around 1:50 a.m. Sept. 5, the boy passed away at the hospital, where he had been receiving care.
Peoria police said there was no fence surrounding the pool.
Peoria detectives will determine if any charges are warranted. However, no arrests have been made.
The Peoria Police and Fire-Medical departments extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the boy.
Editor’s Note: Last week’s article in the DNS listed the boy’s age as 3. Police updated it to 2.
