The Coyotes’ and Cardinals’ stadiums are now managed by the same company.
AEG Facilities, which manages Gila River Arena where the Coyotes play, and SMG, which manages State Farm Stadium where the Cardinals play, announced a merger in February. The new facility management and venue services company created out of the merger is called ASM Global.
“Glendale supports this merger wholeheartedly and we’re excited about the benefits to Glendale and to our guests,” Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers said during his Sate of the City address Thursday, March 7.
Bob Newman, president of AEG Facilities and formerly a regional vice president at SMG, was named president and CEO of ASM. Wes Westley, CEO and president of SMG, was named to ASM’s board of directors. AEG and Onex, SMG’s parent company, will each own 50 percent of the new company.
