There seems to be something for everyone in the massive budget reconciliation package Congress is considering. There are also some not-so-good things in there, and some that are downright awful.
One in the last group is the proposed additional consumer tax credit for electric vehicles. It carries a requirement that the vehicle be built in a U.S. union plant.
This would negatively affect those vehicles that are built right here in Arizona. On top of that, most vehicles would not qualify.
We need commonsense legislation that treats everyone equally. This would fall far short on that issue, and would most definitely cost us valuable jobs here at home in Arizona. I hope they remove this qualification, and seek to provide policy that supports all equally.
