October concert series coming to Tempe Marketplace

Posted

Tempe Marketplace is set to bring Rock It Up, a free concert series, to Tempe this October.

The shopping center will welcome fall with two performances this month along with beautiful weather and a walk-up bar from Dave & Buster’s, according to a news release.

The Rock it Up concert series kicks off on Friday, Oct. 7 with doors opening at 6 p.m. The first concert will feature Isaac Dunbar with openers Whales Talk and Proper Pet. Dunbar is a Rhode Island-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. His style leaps between Broadway levels of theatrical bombast, skyscraping stadium rock hooks straight out of the seventies, nineties-esque alternative spirit, and larger-than-life two-thousands pop extravagance.

On Friday, Oct. 21 Weathers will be performing following openers Whales Talk and Proper Pet. When the band’s co-lyricists Cameron Boyer and Cameron Olsen talk about their lives, they describe it as “a John Hughes film.” While the band’s main genre focus is geared towards pop music, the group has been heavily influenced by the alternative culture of the 80s, 90s and 00s, citing well-known rock bands the Killers, Guns ‘N Roses, The Beach Boys, and more as inspiration to their music today.

The Rock it Up concert series will offer outdoor seating for patrons to watch the concert or stroll along Tempe Marketplace. For those 21 and over, Dave and Buster’s will also participate with access to their rooftop bar to enjoy the tunes and cocktails.
