Kyrene schools to honor first responders ahead of 9/11

Patriots’ Day celebrations at several Kyrene School District elementary schools will honor first responders and service members. While Patriots’ Day is Sept. 11, the school celebrations will be held the Friday before on Sept. 9.

Kyrene schools to honor first responders ahead of 9/11

Patriots’ Day celebrations at several Kyrene School District elementary schools will honor first responders and service members. While Patriots’ Day is Sept. 11, the school celebrations will be held the Friday before on Sept. 9. 

Kyrene family members and community members who have served are encouraged to attend and wear their uniforms.

Three Kyrene schools are participating:

Kyrene Monte Vista Elementary School

15221 S. Ray Road

7:45–8:15 a.m.

Kyrene de los Lagos Dual Language Academy

17001 S. 34th Way

8:00–8:30 a.m.

C.I. Waggoner Elementary School

1050 E. Carver Road

8:30–9:00 a.m.

Students at Kyrene Monte Vista will present honored guests with handmade thank you notes. Kyrene de los Lagos students will participate in a ceremonial flag raising and perform patriotic songs. C.I. Waggoner students will present Tempe Fire and Police members with patriotic artwork thanking them for their service.
