Kyrene School District receives $26K grant from Musical Instrument Museum

Up to 2,000 Kyrene School District students will be able to visit the Musical Instrument Museum due to a $26,000 grant that was accepted by school board members on June 14.
The grant includes $20,000 for student admission and $6,000 for districtwide access to the MIM's virtual education program. The virtual education program access will run through the 2022-23 school year, including summer school. The education program includes lessons on world cultures, MIM galleries and and the creation of music.
The Phoenix-based museum features a collection of more than 8,000 instruments from more than 200 world countries, according to the museum's website. Also according to the website, a MIM field trip includes an orientation video, a museum tour, free-choice learning and a visit to a hands-on gallery.
