Bashas’ to donate $50K to Valley nonprofit

Posted

As part of its 90th anniversary celebration, Bashas’ will donate $50,000 to a local nonprofit on Sept. 23.

At an event held in the store at McClintock and Warner in Tempe from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the supermarket chain will announce which one charity out of 10 finalists received the most online votes from the community. Trey Basha will be on hand to present the charity with $50,000 as part of its Community Choice Charity Challenge.

Beginning in mid-July, Bashas’ invited shoppers across Arizona to cast votes for their favorite charities, drawing from a list of the 32 beneficiaries that Bashas’ has recognized as 2022 Charity of the Month organizations. Voting spanned four, two-week phases, during which members of the community could vote for the charity they believed to be most deserving of additional funds. A select number of nonprofits with the most votes advanced to the next phase.

The 10 finalist charities vying for the top award in the Bashas’ Community Choice Charity Challenge are:

  • Arizona Humane Society
  • Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center
  • C4 Foundation
  • Child Crisis Arizona
  • HonorHealth Foundation
  • Northern Arizona Healthcare
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities’ of Central and Northern Arizona and of Southern Arizona
  • The Salvation Army
  • Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center
  • St. Vincent de Paul

The Tempe Bashas’ location can be found at 1761 E. Warner Road.
