WHAM ends month with pair of painting classes

WHAM Art Center, 16560 N. Dysart Road, ends January with several classes.

They include:

  • An adult art class, Loose Acrylic Painting Class (suitable for ages 16 and up) is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 21. The theme is "Found Florals" - floral still life painting. Enjoy a loose acrylic painting class in a comfortable atmosphere. Perfect for beginners, and challenging enough for experienced acrylic painters who want to have fun.  This class focuses on a specific style of "Loose" Acrylic Painting on canvas. Helping develop the artistic eye and create a style of your own. Each class you will be able to complete a piece of art on canvas to take home with you along with a few more learned techniques. Cost is $25.

  • Kids Painting Class (ages 8-12) are from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The next class is Jan. 26 and the topic is "Pelican Duo" paint a pair of pelicans on canvas. Art classes are designed to help create art in children’s development across many domains, physical, social, cognitive, emotional, imagination and experimentation development. Art will help your child develop these skills and CARree is here to help each child develop and grow. Cost is $20. The minimum is four students and the maximum is 12.

  • An adult self-care program, provided by Color Yourself Purple, called taking care of your body, will be from  4:30 to 6 p.m. Jan. 28. Art is a form of communication and expression, which makes it an ideal outlet for anyone to use their imagination and develop their creativity, self worth and boost confidence and so much more of ourselves reimagined in how strong and capable we really are. Helping boost self-confidence and self-awareness through these healing art activities. WHAM Adult Self-Care classes will be full of exploration in self: Mind, body, and spirit through art and self-care programs. The instructor is CARree Tolle, a certified art therapy coach with Color Yourself Purple.
