Surprise starts winter youth sports signup

The city of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department is now taking registrations for winter youth sports, including Jr. Suns Basketball, kickball and NFL Flag Football leagues, as well as camps, classes, and Esports tournaments.

Registration for 2022 winter sports runs through Nov. 19. Late registration starts Nov. 22.

• Jr. Suns Basketball, kickball and NFL Flag Football Leagues: Recreational leagues for boys and girls ages 4-17. Winter season starts in early January and runs until March. Most games are played on Saturdays with the possibility of one or two weeknight games. Practice times are up to the volunteer coach, usually one evening for an hour a week. • Sports skills classes, clinics and camps: Surprise is offering a variety of six-week skills classes and clinics for ages 6-15. Various skills classes, clinics and three- and four-day camps will be offered December through March for baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball. • Esports Tournaments: The city of Surprise now offers Esports. Be on the lookout for upcoming tournaments. Users need to provide their own gaming console or PC, and copy of the game. Check out surpriseaz.gov/3832/Youth-Esports for the latest tournament information.
