Surprise starts summer youth sports sign up

The city of Surprise Parks and Recreation Department is now registering for summer youth sports.

Participants can choose from a wide variety of leagues, camps and classes including cheerleading, football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, tennis and softball!.

Youth Basketball League: Recreational league for children ages 4-17. The summer season starts in early June and runs until late July. Games are played on Saturdays and/or weeknights. Practice times are up to the volunteer coach, usually one hour, once a week (5:20, 6:30 or 7:40 p.m.). Age determined on or before July 31. For league details visit surpriseaz.gov/youthsports. 

Sports Camps & Classes: For a list of camp dates and details, visit surpriseaz.gov/youthsports. 

Tennis Programs: The Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex offers tennis lessons for all ages and levels. Monthly and drop-in clinics are available too. The ball machine and backboards are now available to rent. Visit surpriseaz.gov/tennis or call us at 623-222-2400 for information about programs or to rent a court. 

Esports Tournaments: Surprise Esports Tournaments features games like Among Us, Fortnite, Rocket League, and others. Users need to provide their own gaming console or PC, and copy of the game. Check out surpriseaz.gov/youthsports for latest tournament information. 

Space is limited in each sports program; early registration is encouraged. 

With daily reassessments in relation to the COVID-19 situation; rules, procedures and general guidance are subject to change. Participants are to adhere to guidelines set forth by the CDC.
