Surprise looking for city ambassadors
City starting S.O.S. program
Posted
By city of Surprise
The city of Surprise is looking for volunteers to join its new Servants of Surprise (S.O.S.) program.
These volunteers will work to raise awareness and participate in outreach efforts to help connect individuals and families in crisis to resources in the community.
Through strategic partnerships with a growing number of community-based organizations and government agencies, Surprise offers residents connections to services that include everything from rent and utility assistance to employment support and food and nutrition resources.
S.O.S. volunteers will serve an average of 20 hours per month, including helping at the front desk of the Surprise Resource Center, which operates as a one-stop-shop for veteran, disability and social services.
The city’s Veterans, Disability and Human Services Commission conceived this volunteer opportunity to help share, promote and proactively communicate about assistance resources available to our residents. The program is run by the city’s Human Service and Community Vitality Department.
For those who are interested in joining the S.O.S. program, there will be an information session at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Surprise Resource Center, 12425 W. Bell Road, Suite 124.
To learn about the information session or program, including a list of duties and requirements, visit surpriseaz.gov/SOS, or contact Jennifer Griffin at Jennifer.Griffin@surpriseaz.gov or (623) 222-1028.
