Surprise looking for bean baggers during volunteer week

Volunteers to create packages for Valley View

Surprise residents can celebrate National Volunteer Week by bagging beans for those in need and show community pride by participating in the fouth annual “Bean Bag Day” event on Saturday, April 24.

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Seeds of Hope International Ministries has purchased 6,000 pounds of dry pinto beans for the annual “Bean Bag Day” event. Participants can help bag bulk pinto beans into individual packages for ease of distribution to those in need through the Sun City-based Valley View Community Food Bank.

Registration is required to volunteer. There will be four two-hour time slots.

Choose from any of the following shifts: 8 to 10 a.m., 10 a.m. to noon, noon to 2 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.

COVID-19 CDC guidelines will be in place, masks are required.

This event is presented by the Surprise Human Service Community Vitality Department, Dysart Unified School District, Rotary Club of Surprise Sunset, Seeds of Hope International Ministries and Valley View Community Food Bank.
