Residents can register their child for the newest Surprise Parks and Recreation special interest class — junior golf.

Junior golf is a great way for parents to introduce children, ages 6 to 13, to the game of golf.

Classes feature a low student-to-instructor ratio, enabling golfers to build confidence in putting, chipping and swinging.

Participants will also learn the rules and etiquette of golf in a safe setting.

Two class options are available, “Little Strokes Golf Academy” (ages 6 to 9) and “Surprise Golf Academy” (ages 10 to 13).

Classes begin on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Sierra Montana Park, 17680 W. Spring Lane, and take place every Saturday until March 27.

To register, visit bit.ly/2X6zOru and navigate to the “SIC Sports Classes” section. The cost is $100 for Surprise residents and $120 for non-residents. Space is limited.

The Surprise Parks and Recreation Department has developed and implemented COVID-19 procedures in compliance with the CDC guidelines for the health and safety of staff and participants.

With daily reassessments in relation to the COVID-19 situation, rules, procedures and general guidance are subject to change.
