Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Anthony Harris, from Surprise, secures ordnance aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) on Feb. 18.

Vella Gulf is pier side at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Virginia conducting routine maintenance.

The Vella Gulf is capable of sustained combat operations in anti-air, anti-submarine, anti-surface, and strike warfare environments. This cruiser supports carrier battle groups, amphibious assault groups, ballistic missile defense, as well as performing interdiction and escort missions.
