Register for lifeguard, swim lesson classes, apply for Aquatic Center work

The city of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department invites responsible individuals 16 years of age or older with a positive attitude to lifeguard certification classes 8 a.m.-2 p.m. consecutive Saturdays, Feb. 29–March 21, or 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, March 16–19.

The course enrollment fee is $100 for Surprise residents and $120 for non-residents. 

Swim lesson Instructor certification classes are offered March 16–18 (online portion) and March 23–25 (in-person) 3–7 p.m. Participants must be lifeguard certified or currently enrolled in a lifeguard certification class to enroll in this class. The registration fee is $120 for Surprise residents and $140 for non-residents.

All classes take place at the Surprise Aquatic Center, 15831 N. Bullard Ave.

Participants who successfully complete both courses will be certified by the Starfish Aquatics Institute; however, course completion does not guarantee employment with the city of Surprise.
