Police investigate false gun report at Surprise school

Posted

Surprise police are investigating a false gun report at Paradise Honors High School.

Police today at 1 p.m. responded to a report of a student with a gun on the campus at 12775 N. 175 Ave.

After receiving the information from a student, the school immediately notified the Police Department and implemented lockdown procedures at both their high school and middle school campuses.

Officers located the student and determined the student wasn't in possession of any weapons. The police continue to investigate the source of the information, which lead to the incident at the school.

"The police are thankful for the collaboration by school staff members who followed their procedures exactly as practiced and allowed the responding police officers to swiftly locate the student and bring the potentially dangerous situation under control," Police officials wrote in a news release.
